Common Problems
Antivirus Warning / False Positive
Issue: Your antivirus blocks the download or installation.
Solution: This is likely a false positive. CrystalDiskInfo accesses low-level hardware drivers to read SMART data, which some security software interprets as suspicious behavior. Ensure you downloaded from the official site (this site) and check the digital signature. You can safely add an exception in your antivirus.
Disk Not Found
If your drive isn't showing up:
- Run CrystalDiskInfo as Administrator.
- Go to Function > Advanced Feature > Advanced Disk Search.
- Some RAID controllers are not supported.
"Function Not Supported"
If you cannot see temperature or health:
- The drive might not support SMART (e.g., some USB sticks).
- The external enclosure bridge chip might be incompatible.
Best Practices
- ✓ Check your drive health at least once a month.
- ✓ Keep the temperature below 50°C (122°F) for HDDs and 70°C (158°F) for SSDs during heavy load.
- ✓ Always back up data immediately if the health status turns "Caution" or "Bad".
